In the fragrant heat of a summer's night let your senses unravel - your desires ignite...

At the EQUILIBRE MASKED BALL enter the enchantment that is the gaudy splendour of the circus, touched liberally by the intrigue and faded opulence that is old Venice.

Indulge in a sumptuous banquest while being captivated by spellbinding spectacle accompanied by the ubiquitous rhythm of hoof beats.

THIS WILL BE AN EVENING LIKE NO OTHER.

Essential dress code to be inspired by dusty elegance and vintage velvet and, for the men, rakish sophistication and military glamour and possibly a pair of wellies and a warm wrap.

To source costumes, try your local charity shops, your mother's wordrobe, local amateur dramatic groups, theatrical costumers (Script to Screen in Cardiff are great).

For those that are finding the dress code a bit of a challenge, then here is some encouragement. Particularly the men, if you do not fancy picking up some form of faded uniform from your granddad or the local army and navy store, then a dark suit or old dinner jacket will be fine (Neil at the Machynlleth Market army surplus stall is willing to help).

Remember that there is also carnivalesque/circus theme to draw upon if ball gowns are not your thing. We are seeking faded and eclectic elegance, so Oxfam chic is the name of the game. eBay's vintage section is also worth a trawl.

Ashman Vintage has a sale on at the moment at Park Lane House, halfway up the high street in Welshpool (Tel: 07974 190547).

For something really special, the Costume Company in Corwen might be able to help,
www.costume-company.co.uk

Sarah at the Friendship Inn in Borth has some fabulous frocks in her attic and this is another good place to seek inspiration.

We are aiming to provide you with a sumptuous feast and a little aperitif to kick things off. There will also be a bar service provided.
