Mariola Mourelo - a personal experience

Last summer I had the opportunity to participate in the artistic activity that is held at Carreg Dressage every year and take photographs of the process of
putting together the show ‘The Celestial Horse’.

The pictures I took there have formed part of one of the projects of my final year at University of Wales, College Newport and it gave me the experience of getting a complete set of pictures in a short period of time - a very good practice for my degree on documentary photography.

Apart from the academic benefits I got from it, I have also gained a very interesting perspective of what a group of people can do to produce an imaginative show from an original idea, and this process is in many ways very similar to what I would like to be able to do as a professional photographer. I have realised the strong commitment and hard work that is necessary to make our dreams come true, and this has provided me with the most powerful skill that could have never be learnt at college.

I hope to be able to collaborate again with ‘Equilibre’ as I found the experience very meaningful and rewarding and I am sure I still can broaden my creative understanding from further experience at Equilibre.
